Hydration.
Seriously, hydration! Adding facial oils and hydrating creams may seem counter-productive when your body produces plenty of shiny oils all its own, but the external hydration will actually help reduce sweat production and prolong makeup wear-time. Not to mention that some hydrating products (especially creams!) carry SPF already built-in, so you can protect your skin in two ways for the minute it takes to apply one product!
Hydration is incredibly important, both for your skin and makeup routines AND for your active lifestyle. I can't speak to where you are at this moment, but Boston has been crazy hot in the past few weeks. I try to drink as much water as I can, but sometimes it can get a little boring? Am I right? My favorite way to switch up my hydration game HAS to be vitaminwater ZERO! I packed these to take on ski trips as a kid and I'm loving packing them in my work bag to take with me now. Especially at this crazy moment in my life where I'm switching from a part-time position to a full-time job, blogging, YouTubing, and all that comes with it, vitaminwater ZERO's delicious flavors, vitamins, electrolytes, and hydration are a necessity for the 24/7 hustle. Check out other ideas and tips on how to remember to stay hydrated with vitaminwater.
Plus, the bottles are just pretty. Look at this display and tell me you don't feel inspired! I channeled this inspiration into a whole bunch of eye shadow looks, most of which can be found on my instagram @smilingrid_makeup. For some immediate makeup inspiration using these gorgeous summer sunset hues, check out the pics throughout this post!
I created this soft watercolor-y look by applying the more pigmented colors in my favorite palette and single shadows first, before blending them in with a brush loaded up with lighter base, crease, or highlight shades. I wanted to keep it very light, colorful, and wearable, so after curling my lashes, I simply applied some of my favorite black mascara (wiggling the bristles of the wand along the base of the lashes before brushing it through!) and called it a day without any dark or otherwise winged liner. I did use a soft lilac liner in my lower lashline- my favorite trick for making eyes look bigger and more awake without harsh white pencils! Plus, adding a bright gloss definitely upped the alignment with my vitaminwater, in my opinion!
I definitely notice hydration's immense importance in my active life and beauty routines when I forget to include it. My skin and my whole attitude becomes super meh, you know? Water (and vitaminwater!) intake hydrates your skin from within while creams, gels, liquids, oils, masks and whatever else you put on your face hydrate from the outer layers and pores in. Both give skin a more luminous glow! Plus, beyond looking your best, hydration does a whole slew of good things for your body that is made up of about 55-60% of water.
