Who has time for sleep, amiright?
Yeah, I thought so. If you're like me, you go and go and go... and then you come home from your 9-to-5 and want to blog or do something else. There just simply aren't enough hours in the day (or night).
But, we don't want to look like our "something else" was staying up into the wee hours Netflix binging, now do we? Of course not! So I've compiled 5 easy tips to trick your mirror into thinking you got those much-coveted 8 hours of rest!
Shall we?
1. Water, water, water!
Stay hydrated throughout the day! What percentage of our bodies is made up of water, again? Oh, that's right- a HUGE percentage (as in, over 50%)! So, give your body what it wants and it'll reward you multi-fold.
As you can see, my water bottle is pink, school spirited, and EMPTY! I carry it with me everywhere (it fits right in at the Her Campus offices!) and fill it up whenever I can. Since making this small effort, I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin and my overall being.
2. Moisturizer
This goes along with the objective to drink alllll the water in that moisturizer delivers moisture to your face. This will make your skin look younger and healthier than it would if you let it do it's own thang post-all-nighter!
I got this cute little cult-product in a clique goodie bag for Christmas. I haven't the foggiest what I'm going to do when it runs out! Moisturizer makes a HUGE difference in your skin care routine, something I never realized until I got a free sample... Lucky you, I'm telling you now!
3. Eye Cream!
This one is SUPER important! While the moisturizer will help to a certain extent, the skin around your eyes is so much more fragile and sensitive than that of the rest of your face. It needs specialized care to keep away premature lines and wrinkles! That's where eye gels and creams come in- like this little beauty from my faves over at Adovia! This little pot delivers moisture riiiight where you need it most. It literally feels like your just applying cold water to below your eyes, only it's melting into your skin as you go along. It feels really cool, literally and as a manner of speech!
4. Concealer
If those three steps don't make enough of an immediate difference, there is always concealer to cover up any dark circles. This one from Benefit claims to be "industrial strength!"

5. Eye Shadow
Another make-up trick- if you apply white eyeliner above your tear ducts, it opens and brightens your eyes, immediately making you seem more awake! This supposedly also works with white eyeliner, but I don't have that lying about. Do NOT wear heavy eye makeup on already tired eyes, you'll only exacerbate the raccoon look we're trying to avoid.
As much as these tips and tricks are simple, there isn't an easy fix to the havoc chronic lack of sleep can wreak on your skin and eyes. The best way to "trick" your mirror? Actually try to get rest! Start with a consistent bedtime and see where that takes you, you crazy kid!
